Children's library service
It's free to join Croydon Libraries and we provide library services for children and young people from 0-15.
Library cards for under 12s
No-one is too young to join the library. All libraries have a range of books and activities for children and young people.
Your parent or carer must show one piece of ID with their name on it, such as a driving licence or bank card, and they must sign your library card.
Your parent or carer will be responsible for all items borrowed on your membership card and for any charges you incur.
Teen library card for ages 12 to 15
To join the library, your parent or carer must show one piece of ID with their name on it, such as a driving licence or bank card, and they must sign your library card.
If your parent or carer is not with you, we will give you a form to take home for them to sign and return.
Parents or carers must also complete a permission form if you want to use the library computers.
We provide the following services in our children's libraries:
• Rhymetimes for under 5 year olds
• Storytimes for under 5 year olds
• Book Buddies for 4 - 7 year olds
• Events during school holidays
• Books for homework, for fun and for access to the digital library
Rhymetimes
Enjoy rhyme, rhythm and songs with your little one at your local libraries. Rhymetimes are free, fun and can help your child learn to talk and to develop their imagination.
Places are limited so contact your local library to book. A list of dates and times can be found on our events page. Please click on the event icon in the top right hand corner of the page.
