<h2>Croydon Music and Arts Children's Events this summer</h2>
<p>Children aged 8 to 12 can explore their creativity and learn how to support their wellbeing through FREE Creative Wellbeing sessions from Croydon Music and Arts and other local arts organisations in partnership with Croydon Libraries. Running from 12 to 31 August with 64 sessions covering all libraries and including music making, dance, creative writing and visual arts there is something for all interests. <h2>Library services review</h2>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>We have been consulting residents on changes to the library service. We want to make it easier for people across the borough to enjoy books, access the internet and find community activities.</p>

<h2>Self-service opening</h2>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>We are now operating self-service opening hours at Selsdon and Norbury libraries using Open+ technology to enable library members to borrow books and access facilities outside the usual opening hours.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Usual services are available during self-service hours - members can borrow, renew and return items, collect reservations, and use a computer or WiFi to access the internet, eBooks or other online resources. Security measures are in place and CCTV is in operation for the safety of visitors.&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Self-service opening is available to all adults aged 18 and over and young people from 16 years old can register with parental consent. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a registered parent or guardian during self-service hours.</p>

<p>Our research room is open on Wednesday and Friday by appointment to find out more about the history of Croydon as well as to view any of our archival collections. We hold historic maps, photographs, microform newspapers, electoral rolls, street directories and a wide range of published material.</p>
<p>Appointments are available from 11am to 1pm and from 2pm to 4pm. You can book an appointment by emailing <a href="mailto:archives@croydon.gov.uk">archives@croydon.gov.uk</a> providing details of the items you wish to view and preferences for day and time of an appointment.</p>

<p>For this year&rsquo;s Summer Reading Challenge,The Reading Agency have teamed up with <a href="https://createarts.org.uk/"><span style="color: #843fa1;">Create</span></a>. The aim this year is to enable children to understand, appreciate and express themselves through reading and creativity.</p>
<p>With free rewards to collect and plenty of brilliant books to enjoy, the Challenge is the perfect summer activity to keep young minds and bodies active over the holidays.&nbsp;</p>

<h3>About Marvellous Makers!</h3>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Marvellous Makers are all part of a creative club.&nbsp; They are making amazing things inspired by their favourite books.&nbsp; There's a festival at their library this summer and the Marvellous Makers can't wait to show everyone what they have made!</p>

<h3>How to complete the challenge</h3>
<p>Children across the borough, aged 4 to 11, are invited to visit their local Croydon library to sign up to Marvellous Makers and complete the Challenge by reading six books.</p>
<p>Croydon Libraries offer a wide range of books to borrow or download e-books or e-audiobooks from our digital library.</p>
<p>All children who complete the challenge can enter into a prize draw!</p>
<p>Prizes include :</p>
