Description:
Discover the work of the Bourne Society which takes its name from the mysterious intermittent stream that flows from Caterham to Croydon. On the rare occasions when it rises it is said to foretell doom and disaster and was known as The Woe Waters. The Bourne Society is the largest local history society in the country covering 13 parishes to the south of Croydon. This talk by historian Roger Packham draws on an extensive historic postcard collection to describe each of these parishes and to unravel the secrets of the mysterious Bourne.
