Description:
This is a story that revolves around the Gardner Family, who moved to the Warlingham area in the late 1920s into a home previously occupied by a famous scientist and inventor. They then acquired other land nearby, including part of Hamsey Green farm where they put it to use as a private airfield. The family ran Yardley Cosmetics up until its sale in the late 1960s, the sons were both successful in their individual life journeys, and in later life they joined together to form a successful racing duo. Join filmmaker, photographer & local historian Phil Swallow for this fascinating illustrated talk & how he learned of this story as a child but only developed it in recent years during his retirement.
